The visitor awaits a broad spectrum: The exhibition â€˜Where Biology takes Form’ shines light on the significant history of the museum. Unique are the preparations of long extinct species.
‘Whales in Schleswig-Holstein’ represents with 12 original skeletons the most species-rich whale exhibition in Germany. The largest specimen, with 14 m in length and 1.5 tons in weight, is the skeleton of the sperm whale bull.
‘The deep sea’ results from cooperation with the GEOMAR. Original objects, unique worldwide, from the deep sea show this mysterious region of the world in a new light. Especially attractive: the 3 m long Giant squid Architeuthis.
The excellence cluster â€˜The Future Ocean’ presents topics from the modern marine sciences in Kiel using interactive representations and device models.
